Apparently, I’ve only get a few seconds to grab your attention in this multi-channel world so let’s not hang around. If you couldn’t get along to the Business Technology Forum you missed a day full of colour, passion and really useful information – as well as ‘Beardy Mugs’, dancing robots and racing cars. We were there sharing our knowledge on the importance of branding in the digital world and how your website can be your biggest sales generator.

People need to buy into your passion and your brand helps you do that

It’s vitally important when everyone wants to be heard above the cacophony of business chatter that your brand stands out. As our Head of Creative, Richard Meads explained, people need to buy into your passion – and the way that comes across is through your brand. It creates an emotional response to what you do, helping customers have the belief and desire to connect. Whilst it’s great to live your personality through your brand, it’s important to remember that every customer touchpoint is key.

Whether it’s connecting on social media, dealing with a customer phone call or being out and about networking, make sure you’re consistent in how you communicate. Rich gave a great example of how Virgin Trains came to the aid of a customer in need of toilet paper! To get an idea of how on earth that happened, have a look at his presentation from the Forum.

Business-Tech-ForumThe whole event was brought together by our sister company Blue Logic, along with Ben Johnson and NGC Networks. It included seminars on subjects including the new digital workplace, through cyber security, to how to discover which colour personality you and your colleagues have. With a series of informative stands and networking opportunities for nearly 200 attendees there were plenty of chances to connect – we enjoyed finding out more about water purification and luxury motorhomes as we discussed with people our branding, development and digital marketing offer.

Utilise your great content by making it visible where the customer goes on your site

Anyway, the number of seconds we referred to at the start, is just three. That’s how long you have to grab someone’s attention with your website before they’ll move on, as Matt Shaw, our Digital Marketing Manager, told his audience who had given up the offer of an early lunch to hear from him. Guiding people through the ever-changing world of Google’s search metrics, Matt looked at a variety of techniques to replace the old tactic of sticking a few keywords into every page numerous times.

One often overlooked element is making sure you’re creating great online content and answering the actual questions that your customers are asking, so make sure you’re gathering that information from all those customer connections. Once you’ve got great, informative content you need to put it in a place where your customers are looking on your site. Don’t hide your knowledge. The future of digital is making sure your brand is visible, wanted and liked and you can find out more about how to do that with Matt’s presentation.

So, here’s to next year……..now how can we top our popular ‘Beardy Mugs’ for BTF 2018?
